Role: Project Engineer (PE) and Project Manager (PM) 

Project Manager and Project Engineer responsible for managing the first Adaptive Signal Control Technology (ASCT) project in the City of Fremont. This project implemented the strategies of adaptive signal control and replaced the existing coordinated traffic signal system. The new technology was to provide real time changes to the signal timing parameters in response to changes in the traffic conditions. As a PM for the City of Fremont, the selection of the ASCT vendor, the implementation of the field elements, the deployment of the central system (ATMS.now), and installation of a new adaptive software (SynchroGreen), and the system verification and acceptance phases of the project were all managed by Donya Amiri.

Not only was the City faced with strict schedules and critical project milestones that needed to be met, but this also demanded a lot of staff involvement and participation in learning about the numerous new products, software, and field changes introduced to our existing system requiring training, understanding, and immediate implementation. This project was federally funded and included various stakeholders including MTC, Caltrans, various product vendors, contractors, and City staff.
